FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
When will I receive my child’s report card?Progress reports are published in Gradelink. Please login to Gradelink, on your desktop computer, click on the grades tab, and then click on “download report card” pdf file on the top right. Once the file is opened, MCS will receive a confirmation on our end with the date and time stamp indicating the report was viewed. (Progress reports must be viewed on a desktop computer for MCS to receive confirmation). There is no need to print and sign the (progress) report card. Please contact the office at mcsreceptionist@aol.com to request a physical copy of the report or if you are in need of assistance with logging in. Please be aware that displayed grades are not final, hence for the watermark on the (progress) report card. Also, only concluded classes will have final grades permanently saved. Please check for missing work on the assignment tab in Gradelink to ensure all assignments have been accounted for and graded.

Why is the school office still open?MCS falls under the “other category”, as defined in Governor Newsom’s executive stay-at-home order of “workers supporting public and private . . . K-12 schools . . . for purposes of distance learning.”
-
Is MCS taking the necessary precautions in meeting government/local regulations?Yes, effective April 13, 2020, MCS will implement staggered office hours to ensure we meet the recommendation of no more than 5 people per 1000 square feet of space. The office will be open from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. In addition, any workers, volunteers, or visitors will be required to wear cloth masks. MCS has a placed a purchase order for cloth masks for our faculty and staff.
-
When will MCS resume its normal operations?MCS is aware of LA county extending the stay at home order until May 15. Our school will abide accordingly. We are also aware of Gov. Newsom plans to coordinate West Coast to end lockdowns and we will be updating our staff and family accordingly. Once the requirement is lifted or it is deemed safe to return to school, our hope is to get the school up and running and operating as normal.
-
Will the virtual schedule remain the same?Yes, unless notified directly by your child’s teacher, Zoom meeting schedules will remain the same.
-
Will I still be charged for tuition?Yes. MCS is a private school and majority of tuition payments directly support meeting our faculty payroll, which is our largest operating expense. Our faculty is working above and beyond to ensure learning continues. MCS is extremely proud of our faculty of how fast they embraced the change and are willing to sacrifice additional (unpaid) time for training, emailing/distributing assignments, and scheduling one on one sessions for students. In addition, the faculty is working off the clock to prepare homework packets and grade assignments to ensure your child’s education is not negatively impacted during the closure. Mrs. Semerenko is also verifying our students are meeting the standards required by the state of California and by American Christian Schools International. We are fortunate to be able to provide additional services such as report cards, grades, etc, which is not required by some of our counterpart public schools at this time.
-
Will early registration fee be extended?Yes, early registration fee of $375 will be extended until May 31, 2020.
-
What if our household income has changed during the virtual learning transition, can I apply for tuition assistance?"Absolutely, over 8 million Americans have lost their jobs due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, and over 16 million have filed unemployment insurance. Please send all finance related questions to financialofficer_mcs@aol.com.
-
When will I receive my spring pictures order?MCS has reached out to In His Image Photography and the images are in the lab for printing. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they are operating with a very small number of staff, so the turnaround is longer than expected. MCS will receive a definite timeline by April 20, 2020 and will provide updates accordingly.
